Getting to Know You... Getting Me Hurt
Saw her coming in to chapel
flawlessly dress: matching blouse with
Skirt, under a elegant coat;
Straight and shiny hair down to her
Back; purse held exquisite between
Her arm and hand- camel brown-
And her three inch high heels.
Treated her life a lady once approaching
Her, "Hey, nice to meet you... my
Name is...," and around the
People and peers, quietly and gently
Starting a conversation, a part of me.
Texted her, invited her, called her,
Approached her, smiled at her, laughed
At her and with her... but this is
My perspective... what I'd give to
Know hers.
Already I fear of losing her, even
Though she is not mine to have;
Fear because of her innocence, her
beauty, her tenderness, her sweetness,
Her godliness... fear of her
Other acquaintances, of her
Other predators, and thinking
How I fear of not being
Able to interfere... not yet.
