Ghetto Life
Crack heads out
Kids skippin' school
I used to do the same
Now I know I was a fool
The gangs in the streets
Stealing and car-jacking
Bet you thought it was cool
Because of the education you were lacking
You won’t know what is right
If you don’t know what is wrong
But I bet you say it isn’t right
That your homeboy didn’t live long
He was out selling drugs
Tryin' to make a living
Next thing you knew
He was on the news’ recent killings
Another mom broken
Another son lost
To make it through this life
You’ve got to know the cost
Going out to play has its little doubts
You never know when or where the guns will come out
All you do is hope and pray that nothing truly happens
But your prayers are broken when the guns start clappin’.
One day you’ll get out and hopefully it’s soon
All you can hope is that it ain’t in a wooden cocoon
Your goal is to make it and get out of this strife
You’ve got to get out of living in this Ghetto Life.
