You Promised

You promised that you'd never leave, You held me in your arms, You looked me in the eye, And told me, You would stay. You took down my walls peice by peice, You were the one. You were the one who I had been searching for. You taught me love can be like the movies. But you left, You promised you'd stay! How could you? I would have expected it, Except you carefully helped me take down my walls, Guarding my heart. Why did you have to leave? It was my fault. You spent all your time teaching me that they weren't my fault. But now that you're gone, I have no one that will reach for my hand, And tell me it wasn't me, that it'd be ok. You were my anchor holding me down, Tethered to this earth. You showed me that I could move on, That everything would be ok. Nothing will ever be ok again.
