Ghost
Am I a ghost who floats around?
Am I a ghost that just treads the ground?
Am I a person who can be ignored?
Are the people around me just bored?
I’m an invisible figure, a myth, a lie.
My insanity makes me want to die.
How could I not be noticed when I scream and shout?
How can I escape my doubt?
People walk by me, day after day.
They don’t even notice when they get in my way.
I try to talk, I try to speak.
But I can’t even manage to let out a squeak.
My demons, oh demons - they notice me.
They make me want to hang from a tree.
I need to grasp a hand to hold,
But till then…my body grows cold.
