The Ghost of My Future

Life,

what is life?

Is it the wind blowing in the leaves,

Gently caressing my face.

Is it the stars shining in the night sky

Presenting a map to the unknown

Is it carelessly frolicking in the field

with hopes to fly into the blue sky.

We dig deep like roots of a tree

trying to find our spot in society.

We long to take our rightful place

Amongst those that surround us.

Will I stand tall like a majestic tree

With my head held high?

With an air of confidence and pois,

Ready to conquer the world?

Will I shine bright like a star

Helping guide others through the channels of life?

Will I run the race with determination

With the finish line in sight?

Or will you find me sitting in the back,

with my head humbly bowed going unnoticed?

Observing those around me.

The thought of who I will become looms over me

While the ghosts of my past haunt me.

Will it make me stronger than before?

How I wish I could glimpse the future.

Will all the shattered pieces become one,

Am I whole again or broken inside.

I must choose who I am going to become.

Which version will I be.

Am I broken or whole inside?

Will I become one of the four

Or all the best of them?
