Ghosts

Horrors happen on the news a world away Ghosts arrive to keep things at bay Flashing smiles, shiny cars Keep people silent But there's no day but today Most people believe in ghosts Even if they don't know it Ghosts are dead things, don't exist, fill our lives like so much styrofoam In an ocean But people believe They put a face to your fears So many fears So many faces you see on TV Turn off the TV There are real things to fear And a world to see It is terrifying makes you want to scream curl into a ball hide and seek To face the world as it is today In real life, in 3D, people marching in the streets To tear down the ghosts And their makers You don't see this world on TV So march with them, scream for justice and equality March for love, for biodiversity, Cause ghosts are real if you wish them to be They can hurt you Almost literally No ghosts to mask this now, No God to fix this Tear down these walls, turn off the TV So something wild, something real can live and be.
