Gift
As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear everything,
For God is nowhere to be found.
He reveals himself to ancient prophets,
To the people of the church,
To mom and dad and brother alike,
But to me he is lost, to me he does not speak.
Just one utterance is all I require, one small sign
To tell me my life is not useless, to show me
Why I should sacrifice the pleasures of the flesh.
But then I realize,
If this heavenly father is like the earthly one
He will except me for the good person I am.
An eternity spent with an entity that sends good
People to eternal damnation is an eternity spent in hell.
But I resolve to believe that
This life is gift enough, so I’ll live it to the fullest.
