That Girl

Emergency heart surgery,

Well doc what is it going to be?

 She’s not going live

 Well, is she?

She was born premature, right?

Yeah.

4 months exactly.

The doctors thought she was a goner.

Mom and Dad never gave up on her

Against all odds, she survived

Overcame every obstacle

And she did it with pride

Growing up she tried,

But her best was not good enough

Constantly being compared to another

I bet she wanted to be just like her mother

Let’s just fast forward a few years

A new house, high school

It’s supposed to be cool, right?

Same friends

Some unchanged, some pretend

Senior year

 Its easy right?

What do you want to be?

Filled with tears

Anger and confusion

A supportive father?

It’s all an illusion

Community college?

I CAN’T STAY HERE!

My own personal hell, my biggest fear

A quick call to the office of admissions

You’ve been accepted,

Congratulations.
