That girl !
When a girl takes off her clothes to shower and she stops and looks in the mirror she either looks in the mirror to find every flaw or looks in the mirror and finds everything flawless, us girls go through a lot that no one else sees. We go through the things that you dream of or you nightmare of and never imagined. When I look in the mirror I see flaws and I see flawless, I see the pimples on my back and on my face going through their moment. And I see the lumps and rolls on my body that covers every curve but I also see a human that is normal. At the end of the day when I crawl out of my skin to go rinse off every tear that I may have dropped, every sweat that may have escaped from my body I look in the mirror and I say you are beautiful, even though I have picked out every flaw, even though I have seen every lump, and every pimple, every bump, every stretch mark, every curve that is unwanted, and every flab that hangs from my body. I have found something deeper than my dignity. I have found something deeper than peace. I have no idea what I have found but I know that I am no longer in a dark spot of my life. I am finally running towards the light, but I'm not in the light yet. I'm running towards it. When I stop for a moment to take a deep breath in and out, in and out, in and out, I have found something way deeper that I could imagine. It's called the inner me, it's called the person that is beneath every flaw. Women that are so-called emotional and stuck-up are women that have their own stories. I look in the mirror and I say I am human. I am a female with a vagina, with hair everywhere, with a butt, with a pimple on her face, with a nose with two eyes, with a giant forehead, with stretch marks, with extra skin, and with short natural hair. I'm a black girl, I'm a brown girl, I'm an African American female who walks upon Earth just as much as they do, but when they see me they say she's too emotional, she's too closed off, and she's weird. But when it all comes down to me and I take my clothes off and I look in that mirror before I go to wash off my whole day, I say “man! She's a beautiful girl, is she single, what's her number, because man oh man, shorty is everything I ever wanted. that girl in this mirror she's beautiful she's real she's raw she's human she's talented and her words from her poetry are written on the paper like it was made for it.”
