The Girl

Looking off into the void space
I see a figure,
broken down physically and in spirit
Suitcases and tears grace her face
from the countless nights that she has cried
Dirt stains her teeth from the filth
that she has spoken of herself
It is if I have x-ray vision,
for I can see inside her soul
She is sick and alone,
for there is nowhere to turn to
nowhere to go
She looks so familiar
but I cannot place a name with the face
Who is she? As I look into her eyes,
I feel her pain, for we share the same past and shame
And then it hits me,
she is the girl I used to be
