The Girl Afraid of the Unknown

A girl who was afraid of the unknown.

But that fear would fade, looking into his blue.

Oh, since then I have grown.

When it all began, it was as if my heart had flown

Out of my chest, showing me all I could do,

Even a girl who was afraid of the unknown.

But soon instead, we were always on the phone

That’s what I wanted, someone to text “I love you”

But since then I have grown.

I wish I’d left, had a firmer backbone               

When you began to tell me what to do,

But I was just a girl who was afraid of the unknown.

I was so scared of being alone,

That I sacrificed myself for you.

Since then, I have grown.

Now I have the courage to be all on my own

And I’m ready for something new

I used to be a girl who was afraid of the unknown,

But since then I have grown.
