This Girl and I

under the sober sky

neither are dry.

though nearby

a far cry.

C    R         R    A        B

   A    S         O    R      Y

sigh replaces “Hi”

hereby not an ally.

I do not justify

my war cry.

C    R         R    A        B

   A    S         O    R      Y

my tongue in a tie

“I’m much too shy”

my alibi.

nothing to reply.

C    R         R    A        B

   A    S         O    R      Y

silence we imply

I dare not defy

the empty lullaby.

it does not satisfy.

C    R         R    A        B

   A    S         O    R      Y

no goodbye.

eyes awry.

I vilify. . .

don’t i?
