The Girl of Endless Sleep
I was the girl of endless sleep
The girl both cursed and blessed.
I was the one who was prophesied
To endless years of rest.
I was the daughter of parentless monarchs
So mournful in the hole
Of children nonexistent
Until their hearts I stole.
I was the fool of wandering halls
The girl who spun her downfall
With a touch of just a finger
Led to an unhealthy sprawl.
I was a damsel in distress
Whose prince was just in time
He fought his way to rescue me
Through trials, dragons and grime.
I was the blessed princess
Who danced a night away
With magic spinning everywhere
Through an elegant fray
I was the beloved bride
Walking up to meet my prince
This time the kiss just met me
In what I thought was providence
But now I can no longer be
A blessed, bright bride
I have grown out of my follies
Who no longer sleeps inside
My days are endless
Dreary, aimless
Since happily ever after
Became tragedy
Life is not just a story,
Problems end
But new ones begin.
Now my dress is woven out of black
Because now, I am a widow.
