The Girl I Once Was
A light
Stolen away from the unknown
Taken from sight and tucked away in the darkness
Never to be seen again
Creating an emptiness that flows through my veins
That clouds my mind and floods my thoughts
A smile
Replaced by nothing more than a blank expression
A simple line that forgot its ability to curve
It radiates the sunken expression of pain and suffering
Screaming, yet immobile, to be replaced by what it once was
These thoughts that have clouded my judgement
Remind of the memories
Of the girl I once was
A glance
Once having so much meaning
Yet now meaningless
As if a pair of eyes is simply just moving
And there’s nothing hidden behind that sudden glare
Mechanically having turned to one side with no intention
Is there really nothing there?
A thought
What once was filled with rays of something grand
Has now been taken over my a darkness so strong
Repeating over and over until it’s playing like a broken record
A thought that can slice right into a heart
And pierce even the purest souls
What was once used for a different purpose
Has now come back to haunt me
Every second
Of every day
Unlike the girl I once was
Day by day I reminisce
Searching and scanning of answers
Of where exactly I went wrong
How could such a light suddenly be put out so fast?
How could my own mind turn on my like that?
These questions are those that keep me up at night
Suddenly I hate sleep
But not nearly as much as I hate the girl staring back in the mirror
Or the thought of going back to the girl I once was
Something wrong with this poem?
