A Girl Like Me

My life is a story still being written,

and I am the one holding the pen.

Sometimes all I want is to stop and give in,

the pressure of fitting in ties me down.

But it's in these moments when I fight back,

that I uncover the real me.

A girl who can make you smile or laugh,

with just one look or sentence.

A girl who will raise her voice,

unafraid to share her opinion with the world.

A girl who stands strong and tall,

not a single person can make her fall.

A girl who won't ever quit,

fight for freedom with her last breath.

A girl who will do what it takes,

to keep her friends and family safe.

After it's all said and done,

when no one is around to see her face,

that's when the tears start falling.

After all, no one is perfect,

definitely not a girl like me.
