Girl in the Mirror (Pt. 1)

I hate the girl in the mirror,
In fact, I honestly fear her.
She’s got such a big heart,
but such a dark mind.
She practices her art,
To make use of her time.

She’s been used and abused,
and still finds a way to forgive.
But she doesn’t see the use,
or the point for her to live.
She lies to make herself feel better,
As if she doesn’t sit alone, writing hundreds of letters.

She shuts down,
but she doesn’t manage to frown,
She just keeps her head down,
and stares at the ground.
She wants to be left alone,
but she’s afraid to be by herself.
She wishes she had a clone,
Who was the opposite of her exact self.

She cries herself to sleep,
but doesn’t make a sound.
She holds back all of her tears,
Until there’s no one around.

She’s so sweet and kind, right?
You’d think differently if you listened to her thoughts at night.
She’s screaming out for help,
but she’s dead silent.
She wishes she never felt the things she felt,
and that she didn’t keep quiet.

She reads and writes, hoping to escape reality,
But really, she just wants to recreate her personality.
Because she’s ”too loud and energetic”,
Most days she tries to forget it.

She wishes she was skinny,
So she skips meals and gets dizzy.
She brushes it off,
to show that she’s tough.
The girl in the mirror,
Just needs some damn love.
