girl of my nightmares

evergreen forest

and blue wintry eyes

vines that consume

every fear, every lie

a five-petaled flower

adrift on a tear

that pools into sorrow

rushing fast, rushing near

a strand of her hair

is a tangle of satin

that’s been mangled and torn

no one knows when it happened

but still she fights back

with the strength i dream of

as the girl of my nightmares

replaces my love.
