Girl With the Pearls
Dear Girl with the Pearls,
I see you in the mirror and I see you shine.
I see every curve, freckle, dimension, and line.
I notice each scar and I notice each crack,
and I notice the curvature from your neck to your back.
I see what you've seen and I feel your ache,
I see each memory and each regretful mistake.
The pearls that I see aren't displayed on your chest,
they are in every joint in the light, in each bone, and each crest.
There is so much inside of you. There is a galaxy. There is a flower.
There is trust, there is love, there is willingness, there is power.
I can see you've been patient without a helping hand,
and there are still pearls buried in the sand.
I know what I see when I see you and I know it is all true.
Underneath all the mess, there are pearls buried in you.
