A Girl Saved from Darkness

Gloom, sorrow, hopelessness, despair. All defined the life of a young teenage girl. With sad blue eyes and pale blond hair, She stared into the sky of a cruel, dark world. The poor girl was lost in thought, and desperate for love, She wanted someone who cared for her. Someone… but who? She didn’t know where to look, but to the sky above. She wanted to speak, but her heart was broken in two. But she was able, and she cried, “Please love me! Oh, God, please love me!” Again, she screamed it louder, and didn’t care who heard. I’m helpless alone. LORD, please love me!” And then she heard it amidst all her cries, A whisper so soft, so quiet, so strangely calm. “I’m with you child. I hear your cries. Do you not remember the psalm? I AM your Refuge. I AM your strength. IAM your very present help in any trouble. I will go with you through any time of any length. I will stick with you. I’ll be there when you stumble.” The whisper picked her up, lightened her burden. It made her want to sing and shout. Someone did love her, did care. All those worries bottled up inside had finally been let out. She was free to run, free leap, anywhere, everywhere. The LORD was her Light, her salvation. Who could she fear? Of whom could she be afraid? She knew she was His child, His very own creation. She had been alone, destitute, by the world betrayed. He was her Savior, He was her LORD. By His precious blood she had been graciously atoned. She was now happy, more joyful than ever before. Christ Jesus had saved her, made her His own.
