Girl Of The Wolves
Run girl,
Run.
Your bare feet callous as they beat against the forest floor
Matching the racing beat of your heart.
Pairs of feet are behind you.
Close.
They are getting closer.
You have been chosen to protect this forest
For a spirit thousands of years old reasonates within your bones.
The moon above you sings your song and you dance.
You twirl and scream out your joy.
The foot steps behind you catch up to you and you are tackled.
Fur pressed against your body feels familiar.
Wolves nuzzle your face as they can sense your spirit.
They know you.
For you protected these forests years ago as you continue to.
You attend every protest with signs held high.
You who binds yourself to trees in refusal to let them be plowed down.
You who sets your bow aside and wrap your arms around your friends.
You who carries the spirit of Artemis.
