For the girls
There once was a girl
A girl with her head in the clouds
Music in heart
Until there was once a boy
One who thought he would be a man by becoming a thief
He came close
Close enough to bring her back to earth
steal the music
Now there’s a girl
A girl who walks fast down the hall
Footsteps to the beat of rumors
Rumors about boy and a girl
A thief and a friend
A precious romance
One here one gone
There once was a girl
A girl who was dressed to express
Cloths showed the emotion
She didn’t know how to explain
When she was happy
Bright pinks and vibrant greens lit the room
Flowers in the cracks of a broken mind
When she was down
The blues and grays of falling rain
Drowning all of the hope in the chest of her heart
One day she had fallen into the void
Black and brown to hide the red pain all down arms from places she had thought ugly
Places to tell her story
Now covered in despair
There once was a girl
A girl who lived in fairytale
Her pale skin unblemished
Her blonde hair perfectly straight
Tons of friends
A’s in her classes
The love of her life
Unacceptable because of the simplest prejudice keeping them apart
Locked in their own closets
Unable to break free of the iron doors
There once was a girl
Unaccepted in any space
Unable to reach her goals
Because of stupid
Stupid rules
A girl who could solve it all
Hated
Unaccepted because of the tone of her skin
There once was a girl
With ambitions high
And hate real small
Who couldn’t change the world
Because she had no support
Her mom
Her dad
People she looked up to in love and wonder
Told her how hard it is to do that work
Rather than help her figure it out
Teachers who taught her to be dumb
Friends who didn’t care
Years of conditioning
To no longer care
To no longer feel
