Giving Up

I tried,

I swear I tried.

I did what I was told,

followed directions,

tried my best.

But it wasn't enough.

They said I'd get better

if i did this and this.

And I did,

for a time,

a short, wonderful time.

But now what!?

I thought it was supposed to last!

I thought it was over.

Now I have to start again!?

What is the point

if this always happens.

Getting my hopes up,

for absolutely nothing.

That's it

I give up!

It's hopeless.

Why try for happiness,

when I can be satisfied with sorrow.
