A Glass of Gin

I woke that night much to my chagrin And saw my life in a glass of gin A moment of clarity A sight that unbearably caused me to question again. Thoughts inside of me boiled and writhed Ideas I hoped could never surive All quickly came back to me This was my whole legacy: Living in a world contrived Not that I meant to hide from the light, I had no cause for any great fright, It wasn’t of any fear, Just to preserve the mirror. Is that denoted unright? I acted for purely my own sake I’ve had enough—m y spirit will break. I drained my glass And then I collapsed I cannot escape awake.
