Glass Hearts

Broken.

Shattered.

Damaged.

When glass breaks,

It will never be the same.

My heart was once a beautiful glass piece,

Suddenly dropped into a million pieces.

It could never be the same.

One boy was all it took.

I gave him my glass heart,

So that he could admire its beauty.

I said, "Please keep it safe."

He cherished it,

Made sure that it was his priority.

Loved.

Admired.

Treasured.

I thought my glass heart was safe.

Things took a turn.

When my glass heart was no longer perfect,

Faultless,

Flawless,

Safety was ruined.

He dropped my heart,

Broke it,

Ruined it.

This is why love is not safe.
