The Glass Van.

There he stood in my backyard

across the party,

doing things he shouldn't.

He had this awkward look about him,

As if he knew he should not be there.

I approached him and he shuddered,

I put him at ease with simple conversation.

He was drinking the whole time,

the night was electric,

I really couldn't get enough of this guy.

He called me beautiful,

I felt beautiful, in that very

Instant.

He grabbed me by the hip

and kissed me.

His breathe smelled like

liquor.

But looking into his eyes

he wanted me to hold him.

He wanted me to love him.

He wanted me to help him.

He was at my party all alone,

and he only had me.

He told me he needed to be home

now.

I helped him to his car,

I drove him home.

As I walked him to his front door

he kissed me,

only this time it felt real.

It wasn't the liquor.

He whispered I love you.

Then he walked inside and I went back home.

I was shocked.

I didn't want to end the night without him,

I went home and shut the party down.

While pushing everyone out

I tripped over something.

I picked it up.

It was one of his blue Vans.

I knew this was a sign,

like his glass slipper.

I walked to his house the next morning.

I rang the doorbell.

His dog barking at the door.

He opened the door,

in the same clothes, with one shoe on.

He smiled at the sight of the other shoe.

I handed it to him and He kissed my hand,

I was a princess in that moment.

He invited me inside.
