Gliding into Greatness

The time it took to realize

the road to greatness  is hard

weighing out the options

caused those around me to set the bar

Why can’t I set the bar?

Last place was the place

I wanted to be a state champ

I had to pay a price

Strength and pain

makes one feel like giving up

But once I experienced the rewards

There is no giving up

The pain sweat and tears

One throw

That throw

Flips my world upside down

Where I only go up

A point in time where I would just settle

But the turning point was when I couldn’t take second

Second

number two

The first to lose

Only gold I see

And gold I want

Striving for greatness

Rising to greatness

Hopping the hurdles

One step

Two step

Glide back

And go

To the places

You wished for

You prayed for

And dreamed for before
