Glimmer of Hope
People never seem to stop and think
How their actions effect the people that surround them
Do before you think
That is the attitude that I see
Whatever happened to good old "Think before you act"
Or even "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you?"
These seem like yesterday's old news
Things people of the past would have tried to do
These seemingly trifle acts
Often cause strife among comrades
Do people even believe in the power of sincere apology?
Sayings a simple "I was wrong, I'm sorry"
Really, how hard can that be?
The world could use a little history
To remind us of how it should be
When our neighbor's were our friends
And people genuinely cared for one another
Today lives are filled with pain
That which is often caused by other people
Including those who claim to be friends and care
What "friend" does wrong and refuses to even say they're sorry?
People need to take responsibility for their actions
Stop giving away the blame
Live in reality, please
Even when there is pain
Just deal with the consequences of you own choices
Thankfully this world still has a few
Of the people who really and genuinely care
They remind me that humanity still has a fighting chance
Proof that not all people are the same
I say a big thank you to the good ones
The people who prove it everyday
With their gracious acts of kindness
Those who are so much more than just the words that they say
