Glimmer of Hope

Once upon a time is so cliché, don’t you think?

Where the knight in shining armor should show up in a wink.

How about the big puffy dress always on display?

Or the bed that snow white lays on day by day.

The magical carriage that whisks Cinderella off into the night,

And most of the standards are up to quite the height.

Even Ariel gets her chance to be human and dwell on land,

All of the princesses expected to follow every little command.

However, I’m here to reveal what’s true,

About what it really is that princesses in fairytales do.

They stay up to all ends of the night wondering about a life,

Where they are part of society and not living in strife.

To be a normal girl walking around town,

Is much more desired than being idealized in some gown.

They do have phones just like the rest of you do,

But they focus on life, not some silly taboo.

As for when they are off-screen and not in their dresses,

You’ll find them in athletic garb despite their successes.

And when they are get into a fight with their parents or a friend,

They too feel like their day is coming to an end.

Who am I? That knows all the of these facts,

Well I’m the one that sees all their acts.

I’m flounder in Ariel’s adventure of the sea,

And the mice that bring Cinderella so much glee.

Then I’m the dwarfs that help out Snow White,

And the talking candle that gives Belle insight.

I’m even Olaf who sticks by Anna’s side,

I’m the spirit of friendship that acts as a guide,

And puts the cliché “Once Upon a Time” aside.
