Glow-Up

Some people ask if I will ever grow,

As if I haven't been doing that all this time.

Some people look at me and walk away,

As if I will only fit the parameters I was given.

I use to hate the way I looked.

The color of my skin is the universal code for doctor.

My hair is frizzy and curled, yielding me into being called unclean.

But as time flowed into the river, I realized that I don't give a damn.

I've worked hard on my mental health as people tried to strip away.

I've become a tall, confident person who did what she knew.

I decided not to hide behind what people told me to be.

I know I'm far superior to that little box.

I'm me.

I've grown into how amazing I truely am, not just how I look.

I'm Me.
