Glow-Up, Grow-Up Scholarship Slam

When I was a young child, I was very shy

I never talked to anyone in authority over me

Living this way, I got by

And most people just let me be

In sixth grade I joined band

Picked the trumpet, and dad gave me the one he had

I had some people take me by the hand

And helped me get better, until I wasn't half bad

Then I reached high school

It was a whole new atmosphere

I thought everyone would believe I was a fool

But band showed me I had nothing to fear

Through being in a leadership position

My confidence has drastically increased

And through this vital life transition

My timidness has decreased

I can now talk to a large group

Without feeling like a fool

I now have more friends than the letters in alphabet soup

That all think I'm cool

Band has changed me

When I leave it, I'll be quite blue

Its made me the person that I want to be

And I hope it does that for others too
