Gnawing Hunger

If one issue could be changed in the world,
It'd be world hunger.
The cause of many deaths,
It remains vulgar
In my eyes to see a planet so full of food
The supply of it which people abuse
Being thrown out, not consumed
While many out there starve, doomed
Their stomachs aching like an open wound
Feeling so . . . confused.

Why is there not enough to eat?
Where is all the extra wheat and meat?
The supply hasn't been depleted
But only mistreated.

Famished people completely forgotten
Ignored like something rotten.
How could the world have gotten
So completely misbegotten?

I dream of a day
Where starvation's gone away.
Where no stomach will betray
Hunger's frightful grip of decay.
