God / Abu Karim

I have committed so much sin in life that

Satan may be regarded as my God.

Yet I do not offer my formal prayers to him.

Rather after committing every sin I pray to God

to pardon me. I do not know whether He pardons me

or not, but allured by Satan, I again advance to sin,

and then get burnt in repentance.

God exists in this

process of my getting burnt in penance and the earnest

entreaty to Him for pardon.

Translation of poetry is very difficult job.

Poet Robert Frost defines poetry as what is lost in translations.

I earnestly support the words of Robert Frost but poets who do not belong to English speaking world, do they not demand the attention of larger community of readers ?

With this idea I took help from a young friend of mine who is not a poet but teaches English in college level.

On many occasions he failed to understand my idea but his effort was sincere.

The rythm and rymes of my language is so different from English that I am not quite sure whether these

translations will be able to draw any attention of the readers.
