God Bless the red, WHITE, and blue
Each day in our American lives, we pass flag after flag bearing the stars and stripes.
We think we know why; we love our country and so should you.
Each day in primary school, we stare at that flag and say the Pledge of Allegiance.
We don't know why; we are told to and we do.
Each day in structures of power, we see a sea of pale faces.
We don't know why; we are unsure of what is true.
Each day in poverty, we see a storm of diverse faces ranging from dark to light.
We don't know why though we have ideas that might show through.
Each day in news, we hear of another act of violence performed in our democracy.
We don't know why; we furrow our brows and try to make it undo.
Each day in the community, we size ourselves against one another.
We don't know why; we fake a smile then turn around to hide an "F"-you.
Each day in church; only the good folks are there.
We think we know why, God is good and only people who believe in God are too.
Each day in America, the structure of the state is breaking down because it was not built with equality in mind.
We know why. America doesn't bleed white, it bleeds red and blue.
