In God We Trust

Why do we cry for the dead?

Why do we celebrate new birth?

Birth is such a special occasion,

An innocent child brought into such a sinful world,

Not knowing what their future holds,

And will they or will they not give God their souls?

Then we mourn our dead,

Ignoring the belief that now their soul is at rest,

Ignoring the fact that God knows best,

Shouldn’t we be happy, if nothing else?

Shouldn’t we be relieved?

I mean…their eyes will see no more pain,

Their heart will feel no more stress,

Their body no longer has to work,

All of their struggles have come to an end.

Maybe they should cry for us,

Because we must go on,

Even when this life on earth gets rough,

In God we must ALWAYS trust.
