A Goddess in the US

Daughter of Leto and of Zeus,

You swear oaths to yourself and to the moon,

But have no faith in yourself

You fear you carry not the knowledge of your brother

But in fact, you carry more

For you delight not in the iniquity of man

But the genius of woman.

You have lived ages

But you have only recently gone to college

You have lived ages

But you have not yet voted

You have seen kingdoms fall

But you are shunned because of your appearance

You have seen kingdoms fall

But your tongue offends many

You swore oaths

But your innocence was stripped away

You swore oaths

But cities you rule no more

Artemis, you look forward to the day

That you have the rights of your brother

But gird yourself with knowledge

For you will have to struggle, as you have for centuries.
