God's Grace

Since my birth, my dad always said,

" You better get ahead."

But what about me? I sometimes thought,

Why do i have to always do what I'm taught?

When I hit 16, everything changed

I started to think I was becoming deranged.

Dissappointing, I was to my father,

With me, no one would bother.

I met a boy, who I knew to be the world

yet, he was seeing four other girls.

My trust, my life I put in him,

While I was crying, he had a grin.

This put my soul through so much pain

by the end of the year, I was drained.

To make matters much worse,

Sickness struck, I thought I had a curse.

Sitting in my room alone I wondered

Would I feel like this, even at a hundred?

Abused, torn, broken and bleeding-

well not literally speaking.

But emotionally I was torn apart

Then, I had a change of heart.

It hit me at this camp senior year,

It kicked my emotions into high gear.

Jesus had entered my heart during praise,

he washed all my struggles away.

I will never forget the way that felt,

the comfort, the settling of my soul that delt.

Because of that day, I can have trust

not in man, but in God- I must.
