Going in Circles

It is better to have sore feet from walking all day Than sore heels from resting them on the coffee table all afternoon Yet my feet ache and burn and the pain stabs my leg And I wish I would have worn better shoes. And All the times I tried to walk away, I kept getting lost, Chasing Paths that I deep down knew led nowhere, Yet beckoned me to follow them anyway Alas, it seems ironic that Elliott’s cathartic roses and cyclical quartets be used to only confound this traveller more than I already was For at the end of the journey I arrived back where I started Only to be lost yet again. Yet, it is not a coincidence that I kept getting lost, For if one has no idea what they’re looking for And no idea where he or she is going, How can one ever truly hope to find the path worth taking? Answer: going in circles gets one nowhere, it is only outside of the paths worn by one’s own feet that one can ever hope to find what they set out to look for in the first place
