Gold

All I gave you is gold

You grabbed it with greedy hands

Broken promises and

Empty words falling from your lips in return

All you gave me is lies

Which turned to butterflies

Taking flight in my stomach

You made my heart flutter

But you left my emotions all a clutter

I trusted you

And you left without even a clue

I guess it was due

No happiness left to share

No gold left to spare

So you left without a care

It all fell down

Every whispered promise

Every broken vow

The foundations crumpled

It all tumbled

Gold turned to dust

Leaving me with a deep distrust
