golden boy
Icarus loved Helios so that he was willing to burn for him
Seawater filled lungs and open eyes as he fell, candle wax burned skin
What love is so great that the gods condemn you to the confines of the ocean
What love winds itself around your ribs until your heart shatters and you’re left to piece the shards back together
To want so badly to be free of the confines of the ribs of the god you are entrapped by that you become angel
Half bone marrow and half feather, a creation by your hand
In the name of the transgressions of the father, sacrifice the son
To dream of azure skies and clouds carved of marble and the ocean, wise and infinite in all her vastness
But to never see it
To be confined by walls of stones that speak tales of the earths creation and the fall of ancient civilizations
To see the sun and tell him of your dreams and aspirations to burn as brightly as he, only to fall
To be laid to rest in the ocean, deep and external
To have the children of the sea nestle in your bones and listen to them sing of love and of loss and of greed and hatred
Your bones ground you and the ocean lulls you to sleep so that your bones shall not scream in the black of the night
But she knows that your dreams will fly, streaking the sunset crimson and Helios will see them and remember you
He will kiss the ocean and an island will be born from your bones and you will be eternal
In the name of the son, suffer the father to live
In the name of the father, suffer the son to remember
