Golden Cage

Golden Cage

Strong wings born of independence,

Clipped by Life and Love.

Sing a pretty song for your Master and Mistress,

Make it happy and proud.

They see nothing more for you

Than what they can provide.

Food in your bowl, shelter from cold,

What more could there be?

But a song bird kept in a golden cage

Still isn’t free.

They think you owe them everything.

And your guilt from wanting endless skies

Kept you under endless eyes.

So you sang,

Till one day came,

When you were left untended.

The first step is the hardest,

But one day, you will make it.
