Golden Heart

I hold a golden heart And I protect it in my breast A prize so wondrous, and so rich That it should rarely, if ever be breached A golden heart worth more than earthly riches That holds a power great A power fearsome, a power rare Is bound inside this golden heart This heart of worth, this heart of gold Though bound up it may be Does posses a key A key that has been often sought So the heart will be claimed And the power that resides within Will be brought into the day This golden heart within my breast That I did not request Nonetheless made me dependent on the key This key that fits into the golden lock Should be used with care It is my greatest fear That the possessor should choose to turn away That instead of opening the golden heart The possessor would hide or break the key The key that I did not choose to give Yet still fell into his hands He knows not what he bears For I have yet to tell That he holds a key to power A key to the golden heart
