Golden Light

She opens her eyes, the whole world cold and gray Full of people wishing they could be away Empty faces, tired eyes Far too weary to even cry Hopeless people walking by Filling the streets, looking to the sky Searching vainly for things that will never come She closes her eyes, and finds a world of color Where the people stand taller And the hopelessness grows smaller Where the pulse of the universe Is present in every music verse Where streams of glowing light Connect every living being, lighting up the night And in that moment all become one In an tidal wave of energy gleaming like the sun And as she looks down at herself, she sees Something beautiful enough to bring her to her knees She is shining, glowing with golden light Illuminating her in graceful swirls, it is the most beautiful sight She has ever seen before, and upon seeing it She finds a strength within her, and with it She knows she can face what is to come When she opens her eyes and returns home To that dark, gray place, where color leaves no trace Because she knows she carries this light inside And with it she can make a world where nobody cries
