Golden March
I remember March.
Something was blooming after a long winter,
and it wasn't just the sunflowers.
You held my hand in the car
and suddenly I wasn't so cold anymore.
You made the sun wrap it's rays around my frostbitten cheeks,
and, melt the ice that had taken so long to freeze over.
28 days of sunshine
was all I needed to come back to life.
You ran away from me, but the sun remained.
And for the first time in my life, I learned how to breathe
without someone holding my head above the water.
Thank you for proving to me that love can grow around me
and from me.
That I could love and be loved in return, even if just for a moment.
I'm sorry we never became anything more than hand holding in the car.
I hope you find someone who makes your palms as sweaty as you made mine.
