Golf: The Game that Cures

“Next on the tee”

I wonder if Dr. Rosell got my e-mail-

“From the University of St. Thomas”

Oh right, Amy, grab your club-

“Amy Hendrix”

I hope I can finish my paper in time-

“Quiet please”

Tee up the ball Amy, focus-

All concerns vanish and deadlines are forgotten

With two practice swings my head becomes clear

I lose interest in my e-mail and my paper

All that matters is my next swing

It is the one that counts

I swing as I have hundreds of times before

Feeling my club connect with the ball

Releasing all worries and stress

“Play well, ladies”

And all is well again
