Gone

It will never be perfect,

or what it was meant to be.

What’s done is done,

decisions made and words said,

are gone.

The billions of people whose deep sighs

once haunted the world are now dead.

Each heart that cringed in pain as its owner clutched a box of tissues,

and then held a gun to their head,

are gone.

Text messages and emails that went a little too far,

hurtful words that some took a little too seriously.

The final breaths of a teenage boy

before he took one more look in the mirror,

are gone.

Teachers scolding, friends leaving, boyfriends dumping,

bullies teasing.

How far do you have to push someone,

before they finally jump off the edge, and their lives,

are gone.

I dream of a world where not one person anywhere

is pushed so far that they would want to take their own life.

No more pain, no more cuts, no more searching for bullets,

just the beautiful silence the world brings when those bullies?

Are gone.
