Gone

I layed awake in my bed that night

A night that seemed to last forever

Screams from all over the house

My mom crying, my dad fighting

The door slams as my mom screams

She grabs a phone and calls the cops

Within minutes, the lights are flashing outside my window

Red to blue and back again

I stayed up the whole night

Waiting, waiting, waiting

Like I did all the time

My dad would come back

He had to say goodbye

The minutes passed which turned into hours

But he never came back

The next day my brother turned seven

For his birthday he got the worst news of all

That our father was gone

My father had left and died that night

I couldn't believe the news

I was his princess, and it all ended to soon
