Gone

Gone
That is the perfect way
To describe today
To describe you
Leaving
Not holding me in your arms
Barely batting an eye

Gone
That is what happens
When you start your journey
When you start your life
Flying
Not staying in the nest
Boldly spreading your wings

Gone
That is what has to be
You're in a different place
You're in the great white north
Working
Not doing busy work anymore
Selflessly helping the world

Gone?
That is a flawed word
To describe today
To describe you
Leaving
Not staying away, though
Lovingly writing to me

Away...
But not gone
