Gone.
We all joke about being gone one day, don’t we?
We all wonder how everything would be without us, right.
We wonder, but none of us know until it happens.
So it did.
September 13, 2012. I’ll never forget that day.
We had just gotten off school when informed of a loss. Nobody knew who yet, but the given location caught our attention. Minutes passed as we were on our way home and decided to go over and check. On our way there, nothing we did made anything faster. Everything went slow.
As we arrive, the assurance was right in front of us. The house wrapped in yellow tape reading, “Crime Scene – Do Not Enter”.
Suddenly, silence was all we had.
For that moment there, we got lost.
And in a matter of what, seemed seconds, we broke down.
I remember. I remember it like it was yesterday.
And from that moment on… nothing was the same.
No one was.
I know I wasn’t.
