Gone for Good
It seems like such a small prize
for all the pain you've put us through
we don't know why
we don't know how
but something made you the way you are
by the time you grow up and realize what you've done
it may be too late
but you will care forever more
than you ever have before
you wanted us to love you
and for a while we did
but you never repaid the favor
now you'll learn what it's like
to be scared and lonely
when no one is there
to watch over you
hopefully you'll understand why
it seems like such a small prize
for all the pain you've put us through
you're lucky I learned to forgive
and I'm lucky I learned to forget
but the scars will always be here
as I remember the feeling of emptiness
though I pray you will consider
what it's like to be us
because then you'll truly get
why we hate you so much
but this will never happen
we'll be waiting for eternity
yet somewhere along the line
you will fall into the darkness
for some reason we'll try to save you
and for another we will fail
by then it WILL be too late
and you will be gone
yes, gone for good
