Gone Too Soon

I woke up one morning to find my mom crying

at the thought that you were dying.

But how could you be taken so soon--

Now every night I stare at the blue moon

I hope you can see me from up there

while I’m down here wishing you were with me here

I wish you could see how far I've come

a college student I have become.

Along those motivational words you spoke all the time

It felt like a huge mountain I had to climb.

Just wish you were here to see that day come

to see the person I have become.
